Clean Energy Program Manager
Status: Full time position with benefits

The Minnesota Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to sustainable development, connecting people with programs and policy to build strong local economies, vibrant communities and a healthy environment. Our programs are focused on clean renewable energy and energy efficiency; farm practice and policy that promote profitable farms that respect the natural resources; and the production and consumption of healthy, local, whole foods.
The Minnesota Project is seeking a candidate to manage our energy program and to work with our agriculture program to develop new initiatives, maintain community energy projects, provide a voice in state and Federal policy work, and to attend and develop meetings and conferences. The ideal candidate would have expertise in at least one clean energy area, a clear understanding of state energy issues, and experience or interest in Federal energy and farm policy.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the energy program, which requires general knowledge of clean energy and at least one area of expertise such as energy efficiency, biomass, biogas digesters, wind, or solar, etc.
- Supervise and evaluate energy staff and interns.
- Participate in the fundraising and grant writing for the organization and energy programs.
- Work with leadership team and reports to the Executive Director.
- Create and manage program budgets in cooperation with the Director of Finance and Operations.
- Help to provide vision, evaluation and development of goals and directions for the energy program.
- Work collaboratively with the leadership team to ensure program integration among agriculture, energy, and food initiatives.
- Assist the total organization as needed in other major projects that require full-staff assistance.
Experience and Qualification Requirements
Minimum of a Bachelors degree (Masters degree or equivalent experience preferred) plus 4-6 years relevant work experience. Knowledge and understanding of energy and agriculture issues required; proven track record of successful fundraising and development-related experience preferred; and connection to Minnesota's energy and agriculture community preferred. The candidate should also have supervisory experience; successful collaboration, networking and relationship-building skills; the ability to manage multiple projects; excellent verbal and written communication skills and public speaking experience; and the desire to work in an open and friendly work environment. Some travel may be required.
Salary: Competitive salary commensurate with experience and available funds.
