Working for Profitable Farms That Protect the Environment
Traditionally, conservation programs have paid cost-share payments to farmers to clean up environmental problems, or rental payments to retire sensitive cropland. The Conservation Security Program, CSP, pays farmers who are already doing a good job of protecting resources on their working lands. It rewards those who are farming clean and green with annual payments and increasing financial incentives that will help keep them farming in a way that benefits soil, water, and air resources.
The Minnesota Project strongly supports full funding and nationwide implementation of the Conservation Security Program as our nation’s first green payments agriculture conservation program. We believe that federal agriculture support should benefit all Americans by assisting farmers to protect our natural resources so that all Americans can enjoy a clean environment and future generations of family farms will inherit healthy, productive working lands.
